History

Founder and background

The Czech Republic Daniel Swarovski started as a glass cutter in his father’s company. In 1892 he invented a new revolutionary method of crystal cutting. The company was founded a few years later in 1895. Since then the brand has expanded globally. Not until in the 1970^th the label entered the jewellery and fashion market in the US followed by Europe.

Partnership with Christian Dior

Famous partnerships are for example the Aurora Borealis Crystal effect in 1956 with Christian Dior.

Swarovski Crystal Society

The Swarovski Crystal Society is a club for crystal lovers and collectors with more than 400 000 members in 35 countries.

Flag ship store

In 2008 Swarovski opened a new flag ship store in Tokyo in the Ginza district.
