About Lacoste

The tennis player René Lacoste (1904-1996) founded the LACOSTE company known for the crocodile logo in 1927 in France. René was called “the alligator” on the tennis court by the American press after making a bet with the captain of the French Davis cup team on a suitcase made of alligator skin. Since then René embroidered a crocodile on his blazers for the tennis court. In 1933 René Lacoste and André Gillier, President of the largest knitwear manufacturer in France started designing t-shirts with the logo. Today the company has gone globally since long and offer a broader collection of clothes.
