History

eBay was founded in 1995 by a computer programmer who started building on an auction site where anyone in the world could trade. Since then the market place has grown incredibly and gone through two major strategic acquisitions – the online payments leader PayPal in Oct 2002 and the innovative IP telecommunication company Skype in Oct 2005. The headquarter is based in San José, California.
